Can I also use magnets outdoors?
Not every type of magnet is equally suitable for outdoor use. For long-term outdoor use, we recommend ferrite magnets, samarium-cobalt magnets or waterproof neodymium magnets. Standard neodymium magnets are not suitable due to their susceptibility to rust. Magnetic tapes and magnetic sheets can be used outdoors to a limited extent. Ferrite magnets can be used outdoors without any problems. The magnets are resistant to moisture and do not rust. They do not require any special protection.
Samarium-cobalt magnets (SmCo magnets) are temperature-resistant up to 350 °C and are permanently protected against corrosion by their tightly welded stainless steel casing. This makes them suitable for coastal regions with salty air or other demanding environments.

How do I protect neodymium magnets outdoors?
You can make neodymium magnets reasonably weather-resistant for outdoor use by treating them with anti-rust paint or a clear lacquer. Please note, however, that a layer of lacquer or paint will increase the distance to the mounting surface, which may cause the magnet to lose adhesive force to a certain extend.Alternatively, you can protect the magnets from environmental factors using waterproof packaging. Avoid damaging the protective coating and check regularly for any rust forming on the magnets. Be prepared to replace any magnets affected by rust.
Which magnets are suitable for bathrooms or humid rooms?
Standard neodymium magnets are not suitable for bathrooms, utility rooms or other damp or humid rooms. If moisture gets beneath the nickel coating, the magnet will start to corrode.For damp or humid environments, we recommend ferrite magnets, samarium-cobalt magnets or fully coated neodymium magnets instead.
Can I use magnetic tape and magnetic sheet outdoors?
Ferrite magnetic tapes and magnetic sheets can be used outdoors as they do not rust. Neodymium magnetic tapes and magnetic sheets, on the other hand, are not suitable for outdoor use.Please note: UV radiation can cause magnetic tapes and magnetic sheets to become brittle and prone to cracking.
You should therefore expect to have to replace the material.
