Are neodymium magnetic hooks suitable for outdoor use?

No, we do not recommend using these magnetic hooks outdoors on a permanent basis. Neodymium magnets are susceptible to rust and, over time, the rust will cause them to permanently lose their adhesive force.

Ferrite pot magnets with internal thread are a suitable alternative. These magnets are ideal for outdoor use and can be combined with screw hooks.

How do I choose the right magnetic hook?

To purchase the correct magnetic hook, you must pay particular attention to the direction of the load and the weight of the object you plan to hang up. If you intend to use magnetic hooks on walls or vertical metal surfaces, it is essential to check the specified displacement force when browsing hooks with magnets. How can I increase the displacement force of magnetic hooks?

You can increase the displacement force of your magnetic hooks by using suitable rubber caps. The rubber increases the friction between the magnet and the mounting surface. This allows the magnetic hooks to support more weight on vertical, ferromagnetic surfaces before starting to slide downwards.

Please note: Rubber caps create a gap between the magnet and the mounting surface, thereby reducing the adhesive force in the tensile direction. Consequently, when used on ceilings, the magnetic hooks can support less weight than they would without rubber caps.
